Jorge Thielen-Armand is a director and producer. His debut feature film LA SOLEDAD (2016) premiered at the 73rd Venice International Film Festival and has since won over a dozen awards, including the Audience Award at the Miami Film Festival and the French Critics' Union Prize at the Festival of Latin American Cinema in Biarritz. The Institute of Contemporary Arts and MUBI released the film theatrically in the UK.
Jorge’s documentary FLOR DE LA MAR (2015) won the Jury Award for Best Documentary Short at Cine Las Americas International Film Festival, and was screened at over 20 festivals around the world including Margaret Mead, Sarasota, and RIDM. Jorge holds a Communication Studies BA from Concordia University, and is an alumnus of the Venice Biennale College, TIFF Talent Lab, and Berlinale Talents. In 2015 he founded La Faena with Rodrigo Michelangeli, a production company dedicated to art-house films. They are currently developing Jorge’s sophomore feature, which was awarded the ARTE France Cinema International Prize at BAFICI's 2017 Buenos Aires Lab.
He lives between Toronto and Caracas.
